My Coop
Hi there!

I'll be moving out to a 3 acre plot of land in a couple weeks, and I'm super excited to build myself a chicken coop, and start getting fresh eggs!

I've been researching building a coop, and I think (in order to save a little cash) I'll be going the pallet route. Being that I am in Canada, and we do get rather cold winters that seem to never end, I'm looking at several options for insulation, and heating in the winter.

I look forward to sharing my journey with you, and learning from you as well!

Also, in case you're curious, my name comes from a Thoroughbred Racehorse I used to care for many years ago. :)

Welcome to BYC!

And welcome to the world of chickens! Definitely follow that link that Liz has provided so you can chat with others in your area as to how they survive your brutal winters!!

Stop by our learning center here on BYC too for lots of great tips and hints on all the aspects of keeping poultry...

Enjoy this new adventure you are on and welcome to our flock!
Hello fellow Canadian!

I get cold winters too and we have insulation in our coop!
We sadly just lost one of our Red Links(I believe) to old age(only 3).

Hope to here from you soon
