Hello from Denmark

Hi and welcome to BYC, we used to go on vacation to Denmark when the kids were little, I have some friends there too, there I met a vet who said they didn’t treat chickens, why?! Someone brought them a sick chicken, they researched about its symptoms, thought about how to treat it, took 2 hrs. of their time, then when the owner came and they told him what they planned to do to treat the chicken he said „no, too expensive, I’m going to eat it“, so that was the start and end of their career in chicken medicine

🤣 yeah that sounds about right. Yeah you can’t get any medicine without actually paying for a consultation which costs like 700dkk, so it gets expensive fast when you then also have to pay for the medicine or treatment on top. You can’t even buy worming treatment without going to the vets.

At the moment I’m struggling to find a powder to treat suspected lice. I can get something for the hen house but nothing for the actual chickens apart from something I add to their water as a preventative (which is just herbs) I got 4 chickens some weeks ago which all seem to have different health issues. It’s been difficult!

Where in Denmark did you visit?
