Hello from South Carolina!

Did you guys see there is another thread from SC, too? Like I said I check pretty much every day and I meant to see if anyone else noticed?
Really I could talk the ears off of a mule, given the chance. So I am very likely to bore you all. Good thing this is an extremely large forum.

Watch out Chickiepoo,
to say you have sisters that age may insinuate you have a few years on you!
I can't talk, I was in high school in the 70's.

Converse is a good school. My DD had a summer program there that she liked.
Spartanburg has a lot of nice colleges. It may be the only thing going for us here. ;-)

Are we talking colleges or high school grads? I graduated in '80. Wish I felt young.
With this heat I feel like a big old blob doing the chicken chores. Fall doesn't last long enough and winter lasts too long. I do love the fall though and enjoy it every day that I can. I am just melting in this summer heat.

I was thinking of putting the sprinkler on down in front of the barn so it would cool me off as I walked through but after an afternoon shower yesterday I realized it makes the shoes pretty uncomfortable. The Brahma stood out in it and looked like she was having a blast!

I'm taking about high school, I never made it to college, I got married right out of high school and then a baby in 74 and another in 77. It's raining here, not complaining the garden needs it. Have a great day.

I hope the shower cools you off some. It isn't as bad as it has been but enough that I hate doing anything outside in the middle of the day. All I manage is to waddle down to the coops and check water for everyone.
The rain is certainly appreciated for the gardens. Ours needs to put out more veggies and with the dry spring it was slow to get going.

Nccountry girl,
I know what you mean about getting married out of high school. I also did that and was only able to get some schooling in on the side of having a part time job. We didn't have a child though until we had been married for 14 years. We thought we would be a little more stable! Now we feel too old to have a teenager! However, it is nice since we can't do some things and she has the energy to get it done for us! LOL

Hi folks! Been a LONG time since I checked this thread - great to see so many SC. Momileigh, I lived in Fort Mill for almost a year recently and I can't say I know of any subdivisions that are ok with chickens. But there are little farms and small holdings hanging on here and there so I guess you may have to try and find something further outside of town. We ended up finding 9+ acres south of York and Rockhill. If you found something near the intrestate it would be doable. My DH commutes every day about 45 minutes drive on country roads which he really likes. Obviously it would be great if he didn't have the drive, but compare that to driving bumper to bumper in the city for the same length of time! He gets great scenery and quiet roads for the majority of the drive, great transition time before getting home! Good luck finding somewhere to live! We hunted for ages before finding something that was not another box that looked like the neighbours place...

Hey! I live in Fort Mill, in a older subdivision that has no HOA, no ordinances because it technically outside of the town and is considered Fort Mill Township. My house is in Olde Williamsburg subdivision. We moved here in March of '07 and had a heck of a time finding anything that wasn't a matchbox sized lot or cookie cutter house! But there are currently I think 5 or 6 houses for sale! One I know has almost 5 acres! Most around me are between 1-3. My husband also commutes into south charlotte everyday with a total drive of 25-35 minutes depending on when he leaves. Let me know if I can help you with your search and no I am not a realtor!!!!

But after seeing most of York and Lancaster County in 9 days and viewing around 50-60 houses I consider myself an expert!!
