Hi everyone,
We recently moved to south central virginia from northeast pa. Have had chickens in the past. We bought McMurray egg assortment layers in September plus a couple of speckled sussex hens and a rooster. Well yesterday something got the rooster. So I am roosterless. If anyone in is interested in getting rid of any type of rooster or low cost, we would be interested.

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Sorry about the loss of your rooster. It's always sad to lose one of our flock. :o( I would suggest posting on our south central Virginia thread at https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/...iful-blue-ridge-mts-of-south-central-virginia. Hopefully someone in your area there can help you find a rooster. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I'm sorry to hear you lost your roo :hugs Michael has left you a great link to check out. You could also pop by the buy sell trade section ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/67/buy-sell-trade
Once you have a post count of 20 you could post a wanted ad.

Wishing you the very best of luck in your search and enjoy BYC :frow

There is such a glut of roosters on the market, I would almost say they are a dime a dozen. If you just want a rooster's presence, I guess it doesn't matter. But, it would be better to find one who is good to his girls and to his humans. Bad roosters are no fun to have around.

Sorry for the loss of your rooster. There do seem to be plenty of excess ones that finding another shouldn't be too difficult. Don't forget to quarantine any new bird for 30 days before adding him to your flock (sure wouldn't want to bring in any pests or illness, right?)!
