Hello. I am a volunteer at a wildlife rescue animal hospital in Southern California, and we received an imprinted female Canada Goose. Her name is Hazel, and she cannot be released back into the wild. Which means she might be euthanized.
Everyday that I am at the center, I feed and spend a little quality time with her. Probably not the best thing for me to do, but she's a very gentle and special animal. So how can I not? Especially considering that she's already been imprinted, and we don't get the luxury of getting to know our patients. It's a unique situation to work with domesticated wildlife.
But back to the dilemma regarding euthanasia. The reason for my being here is to help save Hazel's life. Even though she can't be released into the wild, we can try to find a placement for her at a zoo or other wildlife center that can utilize her for educational purposes.
Any ideas?
