Hello, i just joined the community

I started to build one of these for the purpose to use it for a greenhouse and i had some good ideas how to make it stronger than the plans suggest to build it. I am thinking of using this same plan to build a chicken coop with run on it, but to screw corrugated metal on the hoops which would make it a very strong coop. And to build a closed in section in one end for the chicken 'house'. Then build my own roosts and laying boxes for the hens to lay there eggs in.

I'm not going to raise that many chickens, probably like 14 is all i want to have. The coop i picked is WAY bigger than needed for just 14 chickens, plus it's Amish built. I don't and won't do Facebook no matter what
We've gotten a brand new shed, great duck house, and many other things that were nearby, but that's okay. Both of our coops are Amish built 12'x20' and they do great work!

Hiya, Jay, and welcome to BYC! :frow

Prefab coops normally hold less than half the chickens they say they will and after a couple of years are junked unless a person does a lot of reinforcements. Here's our Coop forum you could browse through. Many coops were built by amateurs.

Facebook Marketplace is a place to find coops or sheds too.

We're glad you're here!
Thank you

I was thinking of building a Hoop style chicken coopand covering the hoops with corrugated metal. That way i could make the coop and run in one shot

Hoop coops always intrigued me, I'd like to have one myself at some point.

Under the Articles tab, there is a big section on Coops & Runs built by BYC members. Here is one helpful article with links to hoop coops members have built:
Top 10 Hoop Coop Ideas

Maybe there is something here that would be of interest to you in creating your own.
