For a bit more than the price of an eglu ($495), you could get a better, sturdier coop by going with a Chick-N-Barn w/run for $599.00 or the Chick-N-Hutch w/run for $329.00. (those prices are from My Pet Chicken's website; you may find them elsewhere for even lower). I wouldn't count on an eglu to keep your chickens safe; especially in high winds. This is not my personal experience, just what I've been told by those who have tried them.
If I had to leave my chickens for a week I'd definitely have someone coming in to check on them, at least every other day. Waterers leak or get knocked over, food runs out. Plus, once you start getting eggs, you'll need to collect them regularly.
I'm not trying to discourage you, just offer suggestions for covering all bases. Good luck!
