Nice coop! Just one thing, ducks aren't good at climbing ramps (and they can't fly up either). It's better that house part is at ground level. Is it possible to have that house without the stilts?
No. Ducks need, at the bare minimum, 15 sq. ft. (though 20 sq. ft. is better) in the run per duck. That run can fit three ducks. If you increase the run to a 10 x 6, you can fit 4 ducks. This will be big enough for four Khaki Campbell ducks right?
I will make the ramp very easy to climb up. I can't put the coop on ground level.Nice coop! Just one thing, ducks aren't good at climbing ramps (and they can't fly up either). It's better that house part is at ground level. Is it possible to have that house without the stilts?
They will be free range on all days possibly (when there is no storms, tornadoes, or rain) Will they still need a bigger run?No. Ducks need, at the bare minimum, 15 sq. ft. Maybe not. Still is better to have the bigger run because you never know when you might need to lock the ducks up.They will be free range on all days possibly (when there is no storms, tornadoes, or rain) Will they still need a bigger run?
Wow.. that's sad.Yep 20 hens dead... The new hens I got are about 2 years old. I just gave them away last week. They were good hens but, I had to have there coop for my silkies and marans. They went to a good home. The Duck coop I am working on wouldn't be enough room for them.
Compared to a chicken.I've never seen a duck before. How big are they?
I'll get 3 ducks then.Maybe not. Still is better to have the bigger run because you never know when you might need to lock the ducks up.
The common eider is about 20 -28" in length . Ring teal are the smallest I have owned 13 - 15 " long .I've never seen a duck before. How big are they
