Well, if you got the baby duck in with the baby chicks then it would probably be OK. The duck might bond with the chicks. I think you need at least 3-4 ducks for them to be happy. That's hens or drakes only. If you mix the sexes then on drake per 4-6 hens.
Yeah for sure, I'm still on the fence about getting the duck. And basically just reaching out here on this website to help fortify a decision with all these knowledgeable and helpful people. I can only house 3-4 birds max, so I might just have to go with chickens if I can't make it work. I initially was thinking 2 hens and one female duck but I've got a lot more research to do.

I've had female ducks and chickens together before without any problems. But when it comes to brooding, I would totally recommend having them separate. Ducklings love splashing their water all over, and chicks don't do wet very good. 😕
