HELP'!!! 2

I just had the same issue with one of my chicks - I had a fairly normal hatch up to day 21, all but 2 eggs hatched at that time. My second son happened to arrive the day of the hatching, so I was a bit busy getting to cleaning up the incubator. Needless to say, on day 23 when I went to shut off, clean up, and put away the 'bator, I noticed a pip when I opened the top! I panicked, threw water in, plugged the 'bator back in, and hoped for the best.

"Lucky" zipped for about a full day when I noticed no further progress was being made. Remembering that chicks had 3 days worth of nourishment (assuming this chick successfully took up the yolk, which I couldn't tell at the time), I knew I needed to act quickly. So, waiting until the final moment I was comfortable with, I opened up the 'bator and used a small flat headed screwdriver to peel away the hard shell, and then the membrane, from the body. Note: I noticed the inner membrane was not bloody, and should see the beak and part of the down of the chicken before I did anything, and I should mention this was only my second hatch and I was terrified! Once out, I kept in incubator overnight, not thinking the chick was going to make it (she didn't get off of her back, and when she finally did, her neck was really tucked - NJG chick). Today, Lucky is thriving! And for the stickiness of the membrane, if I didn't do anything, she would be a goner.

Moral - do what you gotta do, within the realm of your understanding!

Ok so I just got back home and the egg has a little blood on it is this ok for the egg?

So sorry, I just got home.
It looks fine. It may have been a small blood vessels bleed a bit when you opened the hole some more. But as long as it was only a little bit it should be fine. As long as it's chirping and breathing it will be here ok. Have you noticed if it's doing a chewing or yawning motion with it's beak?
You don't want to do anything if it is, because it is still absorbing the yolk and needs to complete that before hatching.

As long as it is making progress, go read "War and Peace" and check on them when you have finished the book.....

I just put my eggs into the hatcher today. The door is latched shut I will not open it now until Wednesday. Unless the heating element burns out.
