Help! 22/23 week old Chickens! Breed/gender?!

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, however I'm a long time lurker! I've only been keeping chickens for a year or so and could really do with some help identifying the breed and gender of these two!

Hatched mid January from dark dark eggs.
They were in a mixed batch and I've not a clue what they are!

Are they about to start laying or crowing? I've researched extensively and I'm just going in circles, I don't have enough experience!

I am afraid there will be no eggs from the two birds in your pictures as they appear to be males.

They are quite masculine looking but I don’t see clear pointed saddle feathers and at that old I would have thought they’d start crowing, some close up pics of the feathers on their hackles and sales would be helpful

I have added some more photos! It's really difficult to tell, but I'd have thought they would have started growing by now and they very clearly say "boc boc boc" lol.
Thank you for your reply. I know the flock they came from had Leghorn and Maran roos. But also many others!

My eyes aren't great and sometimes miss pointed saddles in pics, but I would think the pointed feathers would be becoming obvious, and crowing regularly in 20+ week old males
My breed guess is Leghorn over Marans. Could be another red bird in the mix. With that mix I believe these could be pullets.

I just took another look at the new photos you added.
So yes, two cockerels with rather scraggely plumage but definitely pointy hackles and saddle feathers.

They’re definitely cockerels They have a male specific feather pattern, with the reddish hackle and saddle feathers and black breast feathers. They look like they have tiny crests, so I’m guessing they’re olive eggers with Legbar somewhere in their parentage.

Yes I see this! Thank you so much! My other roos were so much more roostery by 16 weeks though and trying to crow quite obviously. These are about 23 weeks and are still acting like chickens! Maybe blessed with quiet roosters? Lol.
