HELP!!! 3 week chick foot swollen

Well, if you have kept them inside all this time, the frostbite must have occurred during the shipping. Most companies ship 25 chicks or they insert a heat pack that is supposed to last, although I have received them the next day, and the heat pack was cold. I don’t think it was your taping.

I am so sorry about your poor little chick. Whatever you decide to do is up to you. It may lose one foot and some toes. You could think about putting her down, or if you can devote the time, try to treat it and see what happens. I hope that I am wrong, but after seeing a lot of threads here about frostbite, it looks bad, especially in a little chick. If you do continue to treat it, take pictures during the treatment and post them here. We all care about the chicks that are written about here.
Thank you so much. I’ve been feeling so guilty. Feeling like, I was helping with the taping and I just ruined her life. She’s moving around. And eating and drinking. I’m taking her out and stretching her feet and toes. Hopefully she bounces back. She was doing a bit of desperate chirping. But she seems to be ok right now. I’ll keep everyone posted.

Did you read the link she gave about the chicken Scout ? Its pretty helpful on treatment. It is also sad so be warned. She did fix the freezer burn.
This aint your fault.
I’ve started reading it. It was a great and very thorough article. I’m going to finish shortly. I’ve tajen her out and soaked her feet in warm water with epsom salt. Then She has some leg exercises on the floor and had a poo. Thank you for all the support

The article was great. I wish I knew what happened to Scout. Also she has a super cool setup for the chicks with the adults. Which I think is a great idea.

UPDATE: so far, Peaches, is going quite well. Still eating and drinking and standing more. I put her back into the chick coop for some fun and friends and to keep her spirit up but she is definitely becoming more active. She did not like her epsom salt bath last night and was very vocal about it!!! I’ve put Organic Raw Coconut Oil in her legs instead of the raw honey. Because it’s less sticky. So far she has all her toes and keeps improving.

Thanks everyone for their positive support. I really appreciate it. Also I’m not going to be getting anymore chicks that arrive on a plane. I’m going to get eggs and hatch them myself. This is the 2/2 time I’ve had problems with chicks. The first time, (I made a previous post) had a leg deformation, while another was paralyzed for about 6 weeks. And 3/4 chicks were male, though they were “females”. Once again thank you and have a great day.
