Hello. About 5 days ago my Silver Laced Wyandotte was showing signs of wanting to lay.

Here in Oklahoma the weather turned for the worse and this Monday she started showing signs of not feeling well. Huddled in the coop, fluffed up, penguin hunching, walking just fine when she wants, and feels thin. Also Monday I checked her vent and she had a small amount of YELLOW-ISH discharge. Thinking it was Vent Gleet I've been giving her ACV and Monistat via vent and mouth.

Today I checked her and her crop feels full, like a small balloon, with sand/grit. She ate a cricket but not any scratch or corn and drank water I gave her from a dropper. I checked her vent today and it was super dry. So I don't think its Vent Gleet.

I just need some guidance. I'm pretty low because I've already lost 4 young chicks because of a bad breeder.😔😔😔😭

Was this hen caught out in the bitter cold? Has she ever laid before?

Monistat shouldn't be given with ACV. Just use the Monistat, but give it to her in the mouth not the vent. Offer her grit, as well.

If she was exposed to the bitter cold and didn't have time to slowly acclimate from warm weather to cold, she could be suffering from hypothermia. Give her warm sugar water with electrolytes and move her to a warm place to recover.

She may have just been climbing into a nest because she feels unwell. Chickens will try to find a secluded spot when they are feeling sick and vulnerable.

She wasn't. She stayed in the coop majority of the time with the rest of my girls. She'd come out during periods when it wasn't raining to walk around and peck, but I never saw her eat or drink like before. This is her first time dealing with the frigid cold. She feels warm, like normal chicken temperature 😅.

I will do that! I'll cut the ACV out. Thank you so much 😭😭😭😭

She passed this today and I brought her into my Chicken ICU. She passed away about 30 mins ago. Just a loss for words because she was fine and healthy literally 7 days ago. 😔😔 thank you all for helping me.
