Help! 6 day old chick all of a sudden sick

If you have a slender oral syringe, it may be adequate since the distance from beak to crop is so short. Load the syringe all the way to 1 ml. The pry open the chick's beak, hold it open with a finger in the opposite side, and slide the syringe tip into the chick's right side of the beak. you want to go slightly under the tongue to avoid hitting the airway in the center behind the tongue.

Insert the syringe tip an inch past the beak and slowly push the fluid out of the syringe.

First, before you put anything more into the chick's crop, spend a minute massaging the crop to try to empty it. Just little circular motions with a finger tip.

I don't have anything small enough to fit and I couldn't find anything smaller at rural king.

Walmart or any pharmacy will give you one free. Just ask for a one millimeter oral syringe..

Thank you for all the help and advice. I'm not sure what exactly killed her. She threw up when she died so I'm thinking something with her crop. I don't have the heart to dissect.

It's not the crop that killed her. When a chicken dies, crop contents leak out.

It was likely the bedding that she consumed that caused her to be blocked.

I'm sorry we lost her. It was a grueling uphill battle.

Yeah, I was meaning that the grounds caused an impaction. The one I put to sleep with CO2 didn't dump anything.

I've seen some threads on here before about coffee ground bedding, including people getting used grounds from Starbucks for it.
