HELP 8 week old chick has suds coming from mouth

ok thanks paksexo i will get apple cinder tommorow i have vinegar i will get grit tommorow i have small stones and what dose the swaying of the head mean and the foam. Thanks it definee atly wouldnt be rabies would it couse ireland is considered rabies free and she hasnt got biten or anything

Birds cannot get rabies except under laboratory-induced circumstances.. So you can be assured it isn't rabies.
The while suds you saw were liquid from her crop, and being that she was gasping for breath, she was injecting the air from her lungs into this heavy, gooey mixture, making it look like suds. The head swaying was her trying to adjust her neck so that what was stuck in her crop popped out. I've seen this behaviour before in one of my chicks that swallowed a sizeable piece of paper towel -.-;

Do you have any friends that keep chickens? If you can just walk with someone who is experienced through your coops and what you do with them on a normal basis and show them everything you do, they may be able to help you figure things out and it's always good to learn a few things.

But apple cider vinegar-- about 2 tbsp per gallon-- is a great all around crop fixer for birds.

thanks paxsecko my mind is at eas about the rabies yes i will ask my frend who has alot of hens and nose alot nearly everthing about them but he is away at the moment wont be back for about 3 weeks

I'm pretty sure, from what you describe, your chick is out of immediate danger from this issue. I doubt it has an 'infection' of the kidneys (as in bacteria), as much as overburdened kidneys caused by processing the calcium in her layer diet.The damage is already done if the excess calcium got to their kidneys. They should not die from it, being that you've apparently gotten them switched to the correct feed now. It will take a bit, but they'll heal. They may be kidney-compromised, so make sure they always have water with apple cider in it, as I'd think they'll be a bit more sensitive to kidney issues.

Good luck, and good idea to talk with that friend when they get back!

thanks paksexo i cant stop tanking you immediatly when the shops are open in the morning i will get all that stuff and thanks god she is going to be ok she is my favourte and the only hen next to 3 other cocks which one had a deformed leg which i had started a tread on him which he seems fine now .

I may have misread, but make sure you get "apple cider vinegar", and not "apple cider" and "vinegar", and mix it together yourself. Made that mistake before myself, I didn't give it to my chicks, so no big deal- but it cost me a few extra dollars and another trip to the store.
