Chehalis, WA with my chickens
So I was out collecting eggs, when I accidentally dropped one. It broke, and I was going to go put the other eggs in the house and then go put a bucket over the broken egg to hide it. I went into the house, came back out, and saw Elsa and Joy eating the egg! I now have 2 egg eaters on my hands and have no idea what to do! What should I do? Over my dead body would they be culled or rehomed!

Ditto the above posters.

This reminds me of how I learned this is ok.
A decade ago I started chicken sitting for a friend,
long before I had my own flock,
he told me don't worry if you drop an egg,
and if you find a cracked one in the nest just do this:
He slammed a perfectly good egg onto the floor of the coop,
where it busted wide open and the birds cleaned it all up in less than 1 minute flat.

This is very normal, EVERY hen will eat a broken egg, in the very unlikely event that your hens start eating eggs, put a curtain at the entrance of the nesting box to make it dark and they will stop, if they can't see the eggs clearly they can't eat them

i have dropped a few eggs that my girls devour quickly. and i've seen them eat soft shell eggs in the coop.. but luckily it has never turned into a problem.. ive never had them break normal eggs..
so good luck

Just to be on the safe side get some artificial eggs and put one in each nest. They learn the is nothing in them to eat and stopped for me. hope you do not have anymore problem with this.
