APPLE CIDER VINEGAR DOES CURE STUFF. Your'e just not an organic person. It helps you lose weight, cures BRONCHITIS, and helps with stomach pains. So YOU ARE WRONG!!!! FYI. It DOES CURE People.

Excuse me, but why are you yelling at a moderator?

No, I'm afraid you are incorrect about ACV curing respiratory disease in chickens and I cannot let that misinformation stand. It may help somewhat with symptoms, perhaps, but does not cure the disease. If they recover, they remain carriers of most respiratory diseases poultry contract.

as long as it seems its cured, im happy. Anyway, ACV does cure, so you may be a moderator, but you dont know anything about raising chickens ORGANICLY. I bet you raise chickens in a factory. By the way, what is a Moderator?

"Seems to be cured" doesn't mean it is cured; it only means the symptoms have abated. Organic has nothing to do with that, in fact, it's irrelevant to the fact that most respiratory diseases of poultry are not truly curable. The symptoms may go away but the disease stays in the body, hiding, and the bird can infect other birds, even when that bird itself shows no current symptoms-that's what is meant by being a "carrier". If you treat it organically, that doesn't change the facts of the disease. Even if you used antibiotics, the bird is still a carrier, so organic is irrelevant to this discussion.

A moderator is a member of the BYC staff who enforces the rules of the forum. You broke these just now:

Internet Etiquette 101: All CAPS indicates yelling. Yelling is RUDE. YELLING at a forum Moderator is Stupid and Disrespectful and violates BYC rules which you agreed to in order to join the forums.

Number 2. Apple Cider Vinegar DOES NOT CURE, it alleviates symptoms and serves as a good digestion agent by restoring a natural PH balance as does plain yogurt. It does not cure viral, bacterial, staph or other infections in humans or animals. Organic Buffalo Crap is what you are yelling about. Please post scientific proof of your claims or calm your backside down.

Stop reading holistic medicine sites that print tons of old wives tale cures on them, ignore the you tube videos on such nonsense and heed helpful information from knowledgeable people TRYING to help you.

Being asymptomatic at the moment does not mean the bird is cured. Respiratory disease is rarely cured, it is put into a dormant state but the bird remains a carrier in most cases. Infectious bronchitis will remain in the bird and will ultimately affect the entire flock. Most breeders cull a bird with an infectious respiratory illness. Chickens DO NOT get colds but they can get fungal infections, pneumonia and other ailments which affect the respiratory system but are not contagious and a threat to flock members.

Before you make yourself look like a complete jackass with your barely over 200 posts...take a look at how long the member trying to help you has been here, how many posts she has, how she raises her birds and know what you are spouting before you spew BS. You have a lot of nerve coming on here and asking for help because YOU WERE CLUELESS as to the problem, treatment or prognosis yet when someone tries to help, you turn into an idiot. Get a grip on yourself and act as if you are mature enough to be posting here with adults and responsible youth.

One of our Buff Orpingtons got Bronchitis two months or so ago. We put medication in her water, but it didn't seem to be working. After a while, we just took out the medicine and put in apple cider vinegar. It was either time or the apple cider vinegar that cured her.

Your chicken might sneeze a lot, may look and act tired sometimes, and the eye might end up looking pretty bad, meaning swelling or a
heavy amount of bubbles. These symptoms occured in our chicken. Also, you might see traces of the swelling even after the sickness.

This is an illness that just runs its course. All you can really do for it is put in some apple cider vinegar, or some medicine that you put in the water.

Be aware, the sickness is contagious, and it can stay for a while!!

Bronchitis in poultry does not just run its course nor is it cured. The bird may fight it off and the symptoms go away but the bird remains a carrier and therefore exposes all other birds to it. It stays until that bird and others living with it are deceased. Please do not fool yourself. Take the time to read up on poultry respiratory illness please.

Alot of people in BYC use ACV in their water for the health and betterment for their birds. I've also literally read hundreds of posts in the Emergency section of members who use ACV and still have sick chickens due to respiratory diseases, and usually end up having to cull them. Primarily in chickens, ACV lowers gut PH as mentioned, it also helps in calcium absorption.
Infectious Bronchitis is a virus. There are no cures for virusus in poultry.

Here's the scoop (ie scientifically supported) on vinegar. I use it myself for settling my stomach occasionally as I have very bad indigestion (for which I am currently being tested for h-pylori) and it shuts it down immediately. White vinegar is GREAT for cleaning glass!

I like the one part of the sentence where it says "it's supposed to reverse aging." (I'm in trouble!)
