You should be good with removing shell towrd the fat end- use whatever you have to to carefully break in. Candling will give extra piece if mind that you aren't hitting the chick, but the pips in a pretty normal spot, so you should be fine as long as you are careful. Go ahead and rip that outer membrane, too, so you can see.

Really!! I will go and try it now.

What a relief its in a normal spot... phew

I will try my best remove the membrane carefully to see and hear..

Its like i need you with me!!! Cant you do it for me.

Chip back more shell, too. At least the size of a small coin.

I'll check back in half an hour or so, see how it's going, but I know you can do this!

Or do i go ahead and remove very carefully bits of shell from where it has pipped?
Yes. Just use a pair of tweezers and very carefully grab a small piece of the shell at the edge of the pip hole and break it off. Slide one side if the tweezers just on the inside of the shell, so you don't pinch the chick. If you see any fresh blood, stop.
Oops.... should have read farther before posting.
