This is our first time attempting to hatch. This is an egg on day 12. Many of them look like this and I'm not really sure if they're okay or not?

They are brown eggs so I'm really having a tough time!

Not developing, so sorry! By about day 5 you can see veins , by day 7-10 its really obvious movement. The trick I use for darker eggs(like Marans) is to candle about day 12. Chick is taking up a good bit of space so shine light in the bottom. If its dark or black then egg is good and chick is taking up a good bit of space....If you can see through the bottom of the egg then egg is not good.(there will usually be a bacteria mass that sometimes ppl can mistake for a chick closer to top near air cell).

This is a great read with lots of pictures and information for help candling eggs.
