The moldyness wouldn’t be an issue? Since it’s always wetIf they have access to a cool shady place like that, it is not likely to be heat stroke.
I still have the four original I started out with after the coon raid. 1 probable JG cockerel, 1 Amberlink cockerel, 1 Amberlink pullet, then I got the damn silkies 3 cockerels and 1 hen they were supposed to be all hens. I have tried regaining all the cockerels but no luck. So I bought 12 more pullets the same age as my current ones. At the advice of others because of so many roosters. This is my first loss and no one has been sickly. I hand check them every day and am outside with them a lot because I only work until noon. I’m realky on top of watching them.I thought you had amber links and or jersey Giants from TSC and silkie mixes from the flea market. Where did the Marans come from?
They came from a local farm here about an hour away. The silkies are all fine and good and yes I still have them. Can’t give them away. But they are all fat and happy as far as I can tell. Not necessarily. Mould naturally occurs all over. My view is that it is only a problem if a bird or person has a compromised immune system.
Where did you get the 12 pullets from? Do you still have all the silkie mixes and have they remained healthy so far?
I thought given the time between getting the birds I have enough of time for incubation periods to show and illness to show it was 30 days between the silkies and the new birdsThere is an article or thread about well water on here that is worth reading, I am having trouble finding it., but I am not so sure that is even a problem.
It is much more like that your are dealing with something else, especially since you have brought in multiple birds from different places.
Avian EncephalomyelitisOur posts crossed. I see you have answered one of my questions. Pleased to hear the silkies are still alive and my concerns were unfounded. They could still be harbouring disease though... Marek's has dormant phases were infected birds can appear perfectly normal. What was the exotic disease you thought it might be that you mentioned in your first post?
Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way.I thought given the time between getting the birds I have enough of time for incubation periods to show and illness to show it was 30 days between the silkies and the new birds
