Thank youIt can depend on where you live and what you are looking for, sex link birds lay a lot for a few years than not so much, others lay less but keep laying for a long time, most strictly egg production hens are flighty and hysterical, like leghorns, dual purpose, the kind I prefer, like your RIR, will lay pretty good for a long time, I like Orpingtons, australorps, and Wyandottes. So first figure out what you are looking for and why you are keeping your chickens. Then good luck trying to pick a few, that's the reason I have 60 chickens and still want more.
