Maybe an egg eater in your flock? Also daytime light is getting shorter, they could be more sensitive about less light. Though my first batch of hens never slow down on their first winter after a month of laying. Hope you'll figure it out.

Some hens lay fairly regular, others lay and quit for a bit, then resume, it depends on the breeds, and weather, stress, illness, and various other things will alter a hens laying, everyone is different.

We have a Rhode island red (Still laying) , An Americauna (Still laying) , A Jersey giant (was laying) and a Brahma (Hasn't laid yet). They all seem happy and healthy , weather hasn't changed much - still 90's daily here in Florida. They are eating layer crumble, dried meal worms as treats and free range in our yard for the most part. They were all born in early March.

Brahma start late and lay sporadically, Jerseys I am unfamiliar with, you RIR, will probably be your best layer and Americana are on and off layers, this has been my personal experience with these breeds, so your egg supply will go up and down.

Thank you so much - that explains a lot! =) Any ideas on adding a few extra chicks or chickesn to the flock?

It can depend on where you live and what you are looking for, sex link birds lay a lot for a few years than not so much, others lay less but keep laying for a long time, most strictly egg production hens are flighty and hysterical, like leghorns, dual purpose, the kind I prefer, like your RIR, will lay pretty good for a long time, I like Orpingtons, australorps, and Wyandottes. So first figure out what you are looking for and why you are keeping your chickens. Then good luck trying to pick a few, that's the reason I have 60 chickens and still want more.

Thank you :) unfortunately within city limits we can only have 8 . We got the original 4 as pets plus the bonus of eggs ... We need more eggs now , lol . They will always be pets though , could never eat anyone I knew in real life
