Help! Chicken fell off roost and can't stand up. What can I do for her??

Thank you!! I have had chickens for 3 1/2 years and feel fortunate to have only lost 6 as of today. All I know is it does not get any easier!!!

what a freakish accident. sorry about your chicken.
did the vet offer advice regarding "brittle bones"?

Yes I should have known it was going to happen. There were 3 hens that always fought over the same roosting spot. Georgia, my GLW
has lost the scuffle and hit the floor once before but didn't suffer any injuries. This time she just hit the shelf and the ladder on the way down. It is about a 6 ft fall. About the brittle bones,that was the first thing I asked! I feed them purina layer feed and they get lots of yogurt,cottage cheese and greens. I even give them crushed up Tums in their oatmeal once a week. The vet said it was most likely just a genetic issue with that hen and not something that was a problem with my whole flock, I'm still going to up the calcium intake!! It can't hurt

So sorry about your hen, it's sad when they get hurt and then die like that...

It is hard! My girls are all pets. Georgia was very affectionate and loved to be held. When she was in the crate for the 3 days she would breathe heavy every time I would leave the room. She would calm down only when I would take her out and put her in my lap and rub her head. Needless to say I spent a lot of time cuddling with her and feeding her strawberries and scrambled egg. I guess that's what makes it hard.
