So I'm on my second lot of chicks hatching, the mother kicked three to death by mistake (or so I hope) and so i seperated them, now I just noticed that all of the chicks have a large growth on their chests! What is this?? Are they okay?? They all seem fine, no distress and they're all eating and drinking as usual but I'm so worried, I've already lost three of them :(
The growths only appeared in the last few hours, theyre about the size of an egg yolk and the chicks are between one week and two weeks old

You are probably seeing their crops after a meal, which is normal in baby chicks. They can eat and drink a lot, and it will slowly be digested. Make sure they are pooping and their vents (also called cloaca) are clear of droppings. Here is a picture of chicken parts:

Are these 'growths' on the right side of their chests ? Did you happen to just feed and water them ? Sounds as if they have very full crops.

Yeah, they are, could I have just over fed them? I fed them a bit with the mum this morning but after discovering two dead chicks I moved them and put new chick crumb in their new hutch

Will it go down over night or is it something I need to act on?
