I have 3 Easter eggers and 4 Cochins (one Cochin rooster) and a sickie but I’m interested in getting 2 seramas for my coop, problem is I’m nervous about the seramas being mounted by the Cochin... does anyone have any experience with this? Would they be okay? He’s not an aggressive rooster but he does mount the hens fairly often. I just wouldn’t want the seramas to get hurt! The coop is big enough for all of them so space isn’t an issue :)

I'd never suggest keeping seramas with standard sized chickens (Especially with a rooster) A large rooster that tries to mate with a smaller hen like a serama could prolapse.. If you really want seramas but you don't want to go through the hassle of building them another coop i'd suggest looking into pre-fab coops.. Those could comfortably fit a pair of seramas easily.

Okay! Thank you very much I’ll stick to just Cochins! :)

I agree that injuries could happen... but can you explain how it could cause prolapse when there is no penetration please?

I don't believe the Serama would be at any more risk than the Silkie is... if sickie is meant to be Silkie in the OP.

I don't personally keep my bantams with my large fowl if there is a large fowl rooster in the group. And I got rid of the large fowl hen that insisted on mounting the smaller girls. :smack
