Help! Cockerel caught in trap! *ASAP*

I bandaged him and he ate and drank more. He doesn't seem to mind the bandage, and I think he's asleep now. Thank you everyone for all your help! I'll update tomorrow.
Take bandage off tomorrow to take a look(and some pics) then reapply the ointment.
Hopefully he's up on that leg tomorrow.
 
Here is what I would have done when you don't have any of that stuff on hand. Chew up some Plantain leaves making a sort of paste out of it with your saliva put a glob of that on the gash just wrap it around with son tape or a cloth if you watched the movie( Galdeator ) that African dude chewed up Plantain and packed Russel crows deep wound . Plantain grows on most every continent and is easy to locate. I tried it , it works wonders .

You need narrowleaf plantain for the best results. It can help with inflammation, bacteria growth, and pain.

I don´t recommend it for this injury.
