(city boy), he also said I want nothing to do with them at all and I'm not helping you if you get chickens it's your deal! So I asked my dad and my brother to help me build a coop. I started with 5 now have 31. It's been 5 months and my DH just put a new gate on my run for me, he also help me build a small covered run 4x8 in front of their chicken door to block the wind, snow and cold from going in and to give them a place to hang out if the weather is bad this winter his idea So he's slowly coming around. I have also caught him watching them I just giggle and keep it to my self.

I'm so glad I did get them they are funny little pets, the first time they all come running to you when you call them is priceless.

My hubby is not an animal person at all, he may occasionally play with a cat or dog and that about it. Didnt and doesnt want chickens. But guess whos the first boast and to always offer eggs to friends and family when they come to visit.

My husband was taken by surprise by my chickens. I hatched them for a homeschool project 2 springs ago & our whole family has had the time of our life with them (Well, especially me!)

He thought it was "just a phase!" But no....its an addiction that just does not go away! I really love my birds.

I think your Dh would like them if he had a chance to "meet" one.

Just do it! My hubby didn't want them either. So when we did get them I made sure that he was the one that picked them out. So then it was like he was the one who did it

. I went from having 2 chicks one week then 9 chicks the next. Now I have around 50 chickens and 75 chicks being delivered this month besides some in the bator. You will be getting sucked into something wonderful.

Enjoy every moment of your life.

God bless any of you willing to hatch and raise baby chicks. Taking on 8 four week old babies is about killing me!!! Although I will say that getting babies this time of year has a lot to do with the amount of work...

Maybe someone mentioned this, but they are great to feed any and all leftovers to! Less garbage can't be a bad thing!

Okay, someone must tell me what DH stands for. I'm not married, and my friends aren't either, I'm 22... I've only heard this in real life once and it wasn't something I could repeat here. So I brainstormed some ideas for what the D stands for.

Darling
Dorky
Ditsy
Drunk (lol, just kidding)
Daring
Delightful
Deluded
Delicious
Deaf

Of course, so obvious! Sorry, I did know about the abbreviations page, but didn't think to look because I just assumed it was only chicken abbreviations. But you know what they say about assuming...
