help! DH doesn't want chix...

Has your husband said why he doesn't want chickens? He might have some legitimate concerns that you can work through. He might have some incorrect ideas about chickens, if he's never had them before. In that case, some factual information might help.

Well my hubby wasn't thrilled either, but you know what? He just looked @ me & said "I know I can't stop you, so I'll just go along with it." Good Luck, it may not be as hard to win him over as you think!

hi everyone. Thanks for the tips. I am only going to ask for a coop for Christmas. If I don't get one, tough I'm getting one anyway. DH knows I will do whatever I want but I thought it would be nice to check with him as well, and the chix will be my responsibility. I really only want 4-5 hens, no roosters. The neighbors don't want the cock a doodle doo wake up call every morning. LOL. Thanks again:D

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
only want 4-5
well I was scared to death of chickens when we got our chicken.....now i am hatching new ones every 22 days!!!!

4-5 turns into 25

My husband was not crazy about the chicken idea. I work outside the home and he works from home. At first I took care of the birds before and after work. Now he takes care of them and calls me at work with an egg count.

mine didnt want me to get any either, i did everything , well mostly everything my self, such as coops & run, now, when he has his friends over & i cant find him

, all i have to do is look out where the chickens are, & there he is, showing off MY chickens to his friends, he also goes out at different times of the day and "baby talks" to them, hey lil pookie babies!! ohhh, & hes always asking me if i fed them yet!!, trust us here at BYC, just get them, he will melt like a snow ball in a hot cast iron skillet

you got to wear them down like alot of other people said.
Ex: go on byc find amazing pics of beautiful chickens and show them to DH
do you have children? get them in on it. Daddy I don't want those eggs they are old and pale and yukky
find pictures of adorable coops and say things like oh well I don't know if I could do that but I know you could you big hunk of studly man you
mention the need for new power tools to build said coop.
My DH was not thrilled with the idea either but now he goes out and tells me what good looking birds (we) have.
And sunday he bought me 6 more birds at the poultry show.

I'm laughing at the 4-5 chickens part! I said we would get six and I was scared to touch them when we got them home from the PO so hubby had to put them in the brooder

He made me do some of them though and I was SO scared I would hurt them. We now have 30 something of them...I haven't counted them in a while! LOL AND more in the bator now. My hubby said no because everyone told him how bad they smelled! I made him read here how NOT so bad they smelled and he said...OK we can TRY a few chickens. And than he fell for them

Now HE'S even going out to check for eggs

What he didn't like was having to put one out of it's misery because of a dog attack

My husband wanted some chickens for eggs. He brought home several pullet chick's in a box with a 5lb bag if chick starter. Now I had these 2 day old chicks and had to makeshift a temporary brooder. Well we succeeded. I love my hens. I decided I wanted more chickens. This time I brought some pullet chick's home and didn't say anything to him and put them in the brooder. Actually he took it very well. Since then, I bought a shed that has been turned into a nursery coop, no nest boxes. My girls are precious.
