This is exactly what I was going to say. My lab once upon a time got into the garbage the night of Thankgiving and ate himself all sorts of squash, turkey, rolls, cranberry sauce, 8 peoples plate scrapings...
He ended up with Pancreatitis and man oh man was he one sick pooch. Vomiting EVERYWHERE and frequently, like every 3-5 minutes to the point where he was dry heaving. It was very scary to see.
I called an emergency vet local to me who thought he might have been obstructed with something from the trash and told me to feed him 3 slices of bread, buttered on both sides. HUGE mistake on their part. It almost killed him.
We then rushed him to another emergency vet clinic who took the blood work and confirmed the Pancreatitis, gave him Subq fluids and sent him home. The rule was NO FOOD OR WATER for 24 hours (he had had subq fluid) and then to introduce water a tablespoon at a time once an hour the next day to see if he would tolerate it without vomiting. Once he could keep down a cup of water, we were able to move onto rice and chicken, a very small amount at a time, and then gradually mix in the regular dog food. It took the better part of a week to get him eating his regular meal again and he didn't have any bowl movement at all for the first 48 hours, even though he would strain and get in position.
You might want to take him to the vet for the bloodwork to confirm the Pancreatitis and the Subq fluid. It's important to stop all intake of food and water to give everything a break with Pancreatitis and you cannot do that unless they've had the subq fluids.
