HELP! Dove Laid Egg On Porch - What Do We Do!?

The best and legal thing to do is leave it alone as others mentioned.
For those interested, Doves and pigeons as a group are not known for being the best nest builders.
This sort of poor-nesting behavior is typical of young/inexperienced birds, and it either sorts itself out in the following breeding cycles or the doves don’t figure it out, continue to fail hatching eggs, and don’t pass on their bad reproductive genes.

I don't think there should be blood. She might have strained hard to have this egg. My pet dove lays eggs and no blood on them.
Hello

I see that you just very recently joined the BYC (BackYard Chickens) forum website.

Welcome! :welcome

This thread is from 2008; and unfortunately the person that you replied to in your post has not been active on BYC since 2013.

I suggest that you start your own new thread on BYC, as new threads do get more rapid and applied responses to enquiries.

How about starting a new thread in this 'Pigeons and Doves' section, telling us about your pet doves?

Wishing you all the best with your postings.

I see that you have done so already.
:thumbsup
17 year old thread, and no one has mentioned scrambling.....

FWIW the initial pic kind of looks like a Eurasian dove, so if the initial poster was in the US, they're probably not sitting in jail for violating the migratory bird act.
