Thank you, I hope she is too! I'm so sad we lost one and that she got so injured. We're going to do our best to make sure that doesn't happen again.
Do not feel bad about the predator. We had one injured in the fall. The coyote went through a three strand electric fence before pushing the hardware cloth and then pulling one duck out by her head. We put a second layer of hardware cloth on the outside and Rou recovered from her wounds. We are all learning as we go and the help from these people on this forum is the best

We tube fed her again about a half hour ago. She was NOT pleased this time, even after we were finished. She clamped her beak and clamped her tongue to the roof of her mouth and was really hard to hold. And even when we were done she struggled to get free. We put about 45-50 mm into her. She pooped all over my legs.

I wish I had some reassurance that we aren't hurting her! I mean, it's obvious that it hurts, I just want to be sure we aren't injuring or harming her further. I was hoping not to have to do it this morning, but she's still unable to eat. She's hungry--she gobbles at her pellets and her mash and bits of kale, but they just fall right out of her mouth. They don't even make it to her throat, it seems.

I really hope she is able to eat soon so she can go back outside with everyone else and not be stuck all day in a small, dark space (she needs to be protected from the cat, otherwise we would let her out in the open).

Most birds do not enjoy being tube fed, and I say most because I had one that did like it, lol. By tubing her you are keeping her from dying from dehydration and starvation, so keep up the good work and know that you are doing way more good than harm.

Oh, and welcome to Team Tube Feeding!
