Ok to be honest tho, I dont see special needs as retarded because that seems more harsh like they are smarter than that in their own way. I see it as they have a learning disability and if I ever wanted to be lazy (I never say this) I would say sped.

It's just the connotation. Retarded is a word that was widely used for what we now call special needs. People often use it as a sub to stupid, ignorant, dumb. I grew up 80/90's and it was just a popular thing to say. I said it myself all the time. But now knowing the pain it can cause to special needs people, I took it out of use. Very similar to how people used to call everything "gay".

It's funny that I find this conversation much more relatable and interesting that the original posted who HAS to be pretending to introduce chickens to raccoons. I refuse to believe that is true. lol.
