Help! first time hatching!

I can see into the silkie egg. It isn't moving that j could tell. Is it dead? The ducks really crawled over that egg in particular, so would that be the cause? I'll give it another day before removing it and examining it.

No the ducks moving it around and crawling on it isn't going to hurt him. Sounds like he may have quit. Are any of them known for high vaults?? My silkies shoot off high vaults so I usually have to help them out.

#11 duck hasn't zipped, but it has about a dime sized hole made. Its beak, wing, and foot are all attempting to get out of the same hole. Is it gone be ok? It's has had its beak our all night, it's wing came out this morning, and it's foot a minute ago

This little duck is having a lot of trouble getting out. Should I help him?

I couldn't bear to watch him, so I helped him. The membrane (I think that's what it was) was really tough, so that may be why he had trouble. It was defiantly ready to come out. Poor thing, tho. I think it's head is cramped from the position it was in, cause it's having a little trouble keeping it up.

Ok they either pipped or peeped. Pipped happens internally. And peeped happens externally. It's confusing when when I see they have pipped because I don't know if you mean internally pipped or externally peeping.
With peafowl we say "internally pipped" (pipped through membrane and is starting to breathe) or "externally pipped" (pipped through shell), and peeping is the noise they make, which they make before pipping externally.

?high vaults???
When I say pipped, I mean the pushed thru a bit of the shell so I can see the raised shell externally.
yes, High vaults is known for silkies, this gives them an advantage of having a Nice ball of Fur on the top of there heads...

Got cha

I'm having an email notification problem and that is I'm not getting any...grrr

Kathy are u having a notification issue too? I'm not getting any threw my email. GRRR.

Silkies understand do not have a skull on the top of there heads, there skulls are underneath there brains, what happens is some silkies will get what is called a High Vault, the best way to think of it is like a crested head, LOL. When they hatch they will look like they have a swelled up head when really its just there vaults well it's actually there brain protuding in an upward position..
My splash hatches these guys out all the time, Not all silkies have it though. but when they get older it does make it difficulty for them to see as well as get out of there shells,
