Help! first time hatching!

Oh yes. 43% in lockdown is too low. Is that a meter on the unit or an extra hygrometer?

It's at 48% now. It has a little screen on top that shows temp, humidity, and some other things. It has an automatic turner and some little red buttons you push to change temp I guess. Never had a Little Giant.

A couple eggs have pipped. One is really chirping. My enighbor's last hatch rate was really low, like 2 out of 40. But the eggs were old.

I'm surprised they would even pip that low, but maybe its ok. Just watch that the the pips dont dry out too quickly.

My neighbor also brought down her incubator because it has some BO eggs in it and she has to go out of town. The bator is a Little Giant. Temp is 99.5 and humidity is 43% and shifting. Do I need to raise it? Half the eggs are due today and half tomorrow.

Omg that's to low for lockdown. Does it have a fan??

Clarification - I don't think 48 would be ok, but the meter on the unit could be so low, maybe she knew that when she started lockdown. When mine reads 48, its actually about 65. Lol

My LO eggs looked really porous too (especially compared to duck eggs!). But not so much after they started developing.  I never got an answer when I asked if it was an orpington thing or just my eggs...

It's not an Orpington it's a lack of nutrients.

My neighbor just brought down 13 BO eggs of hers for me to incubate for her. A lot of them look porous without even being candled. Any advice about that?

Porus eggs is a lack of calcium. Oyster shells should do the trick or smashed up eggs shells lol

If the humidity was down that low could be a main issue.

I've had two that hatched out today my humidity is at 22%. It doesn't surprise me really. I didn't lock mine down because they aren't suppose to be hatching. Yet. Lol
