HELP! First time NERVOUS Hatcher-Duckling pipped! Not ready at all- please help!

Poor Mama Duck, but thankfully she had you watching over her nest. Will you keep them or encourage them to return to the wild? They are going to be such cute babies! 🥰

Don't worry - I'm a candle-a-holic too. The whole process is just so fascinating. I've probably bugged my babies at least 5 times today trying to see what they are up to in there. It's so stressful! I had one stop growing a few days ago and the veins quickly disappeared, but I still have 6 eggs going strong. :fl

I will be off to bed in a few hours but no doubt I'll be up early checking on them.

Keep me posted on how your babies are getting on.
I will definitely stay in touch! && I’ll definitely need more support and advice! Thank you so much for chatting 💜

Just remember ducklings are slow hatchers. They can take 25-48 hours to hatch. I would likely wait until closer to 6 to safety hole though, unless you really notice a heavy decrease in activity ( peeping or movement in the egg). Mallards don’t usually have a hard time hatching like call ducks.
Oh that’s awesome to hear that they don’t have a hard time hatching- my husband checked the temp and turned them this morning when I told him no more because of the internal pipping on 4 eggs! :barnie I turned them back to the position I left them at last night and they are peeping away. Last night I also looped a duck hatching video to encourage the rest of my eggs to internally pip and keep my initial internal pippers and the new ones to continue talking to me! Hopefully they keep talking to me!!! The ones that didn’t internally pip were all moving when I QUICKLY candled them- so as of last night they were all going strong:yesss::jumpy

I was up at 1.40am checking on mine then figured that was way too early to be up and went back to bed. I was up again at 5.45am and I candled them to reassure myself. One looks to have stopped before internally pipping but the other 5 are all internally pipped and I can really see their little beaks now.

Muscovy must be a lot quieter than other kinds of ducks. They hardly ever make a peep and it's so quiet when they do.

A couple of mine should hopefully externally pip soon. :fl

They are so vocal- I’m not going to do any safety hole unless the talking my stops close to my discovery of my internal pippers last night (midnight). I’m more relaxed now because I keep hearing them talk to me!

Yesss! Someone actually just said Muscovy ducks are very quiet and mallards are very vocal- so along with the welcoming peeps I’m getting- I candled and they’re all moving!!! So again- thankfully- I’m pretty relaxed!!

Sending best wishes with your hatch your way!!! :love :jumpy :bun

I keep telling myself that, even when they do externally pip I'll still be waiting at least 24 hours, if not longer. But I'm still excited. I'll feel better once they have pipped externally though.

Yesss! I totally agree! Actually- I have mixed feelings about that- that’s when the “shrink wrapping” can happen and that’s where I might go into “crazy hatching lady” mode!!!:gig
