I've found that this is true of duck eggs, but so far I haven't had a chicken egg do this.I heard someone say that if the egg isn't getting dark spots/patches then their just resting before they begin their final journey into the big world... I unfortunately don't know if this is true tho
I am sorry this happened to you.it hurts........Thanks guys I'm 5 days into my next batch in my new batormy 2 older chicks are doing well, I don't wash my hands because I wear gloves when handling eggs,![]()

I do not think you did anything wrong.........please do not blame yourself.
This hatching is just not as easy as a person might think.
When I first started, I lost a whole incubator full of expensive eggs because I misunderstood what the humidity\was suppose to be.
For the future, there is a thread called when to assist that you can find if you look under search.
It will give you a ton of information.
The difference in hatch time could have something to do with breed??????????
I know I have different responses from different breeds.
My last hatch did not even start until day 23...........
Also , it is not unusual for them to not hatch on the same day..............I have had some go to day 25
and I never remove my eggs until then.
don't give up.the best therapy is to try again.................
Good luck
