Help help :( panicking.

###no idea, but I think it`s why 2 of mine didn`t. Maybe try incubating them in a carton next time. It seems to be the advice with shipped eggs, just lie them down for lock down.

I heard someone say that if the egg isn't getting dark spots/patches then their just resting before they begin their final journey into the big world... I unfortunately don't know if this is true tho

I've found that this is true of duck eggs, but so far I haven't had a chicken egg do this.

I've bought a new 48 egg incubator which is automatic which will hopefully prevent this happening in the future. I have 24 eggs due on the 25th of June , I'm just going to concentrate on my 2 babies I have. In my eyes I have had a successful hatch for a first timer as I know most people don't get any on their first hatch. So I'm holding my head high I suppose it's just nature.
so i suppose it's not a total loss I have two beautiful chicks from this. Positive thinking the two chicks just weren't meant to be here I guess. Thanks for all the help guys your were amazing !

So very sorry they didn't make it. You really tried hard to do everything right, but ultimately it is decided by nature.
If it's any consolation, my experienced broody hen was given 8 fertile eggs to hatch and she only managed to hatch out 2 successfully.
So even the experts(hens) don't always get 100%. Best of luck to you in further attempts.

I have a few things that I do that may help, like washing my hands before I handle eggs, giving the eggs a 5 min cool down, and running a dry incubation untill the last 3 days. Sorry about your hatch!

Thanks guys I'm 5 days into my next batch in my new bator my 2 older chicks are doing well, I don't wash my hands because I wear gloves when handling eggs,

I am sorry this happened to you.it hurts........
I do not think you did anything wrong.........please do not blame yourself.
This hatching is just not as easy as a person might think.
When I first started, I lost a whole incubator full of expensive eggs because I misunderstood what the humidity\was suppose to be.
For the future, there is a thread called when to assist that you can find if you look under search.
It will give you a ton of information.
The difference in hatch time could have something to do with breed??????????
I know I have different responses from different breeds.
My last hatch did not even start until day 23...........
Also , it is not unusual for them to not hatch on the same day..............I have had some go to day 25
and I never remove my eggs until then.
don't give up.the best therapy is to try again.................

Thanks ! I was pretty upset at first but I've realised that you can't control everything. And to me I had a successful hatch because I got 2 beautiful babies as some first times don't get any. Hopefully my next batch will prove to be better as its a better bator. thanks guys you've all really helped me get past this
