HELP How long does pasty butt usually last, distressed chick

Ok so 5 or 6 of My babies have pooh sticking to their butt the last 2 days, bathed them last night this morning and again tonight, I hate stressing them out getting them wet? how much longer will it last, I also have 1 that is distressing loudly and seems to not be able to go, its sorta poofy sticking out around the vent, no innards out just poofy swollen around the vent .WHAT TO DO????? HELP
I added ACV tonight to the water I been giving them yogurt, mashed in their feed, plus mashed eggs every morning with sprinkled feed on top. they are on sand play sand, very small size, would they still need a little grit? will this help with the problem, they have had no other foods but the eggs and yogurt and their crumbles. except maybe a stray elder bug that got in the brooder, I haven't seen 1 in there today and I did see one yesterday they do fly tho.......so??
I read here somewhere that the temp can affect this I finally got the directly under the heater temp down to 92, is that too cool, they are 4 days old today, born/mailed Weds. arrived Friday. Kim

Make sure they have room to get away from the heat if the need to; they may be too hot.

You may need to trim the fluff around the vent if the poop keeps getting stuck. Also, dab a bit of olive oil onto their bums to help the poo not get stuck.

You might want to also cut back on the yogurt and stick to ACV water and their chick starter, with only a little mashed egg yolk. Let them get accustomed to life and get their digestion straightened out before going overboard on other foods.

If the poop is stuck below their vents, it's just messy pooping. No need to bathe them... a soft damp cloth is fine. If the poop is actually plugging their vents, then that's true pasty butt. Overbathing can irritate the vent, not to mention stress the birds out, so try using Q tips or soft cloths with warm water, then dab the vent with antiseptic like Blue Kote to let it heal. I would feed just the chick starter. They may need a little more room; they need to be able to get away from the heat to a cooler area if they want to.

Usually it doesn't last past 10 days. I got the poop off, and then lubricated the vent with olive oil. I gave them yogurt and a big chunk of grass with dirt included. It worked like a charm.

This is my setup they have a 4x4 brooder, theirs only 16 chicks in it temp at the front is 75 , directly under the brooder light is now 92, its was 100, but they can go anywhere to get away from the heat if its too much. heres a picture.
I'm very confused is yogurt good for pasty butt or not ? I just put the acv in there tonight. Have only 2 places to get organic ACV near me 1 is closed on the weekends, the other is open but was out of it yesterday, well their wasn't any on the shelf anyway, they were stocking when I was in there.

What I usually do is grind their feed to almost a powder. This last hatch out of 11 only 1 pasty butt. The hatch before all 10 had it.

Then they can get away from the heat so that's fine. I feel that a little yogurt, a tsp or two for the whole bunch, is OK. It gives them a probiotic, but so does organic ACV. You don't want to give them much yogurt because birds can't digest lactose. Since you had already given some, I figured they really didn't need any more. You're building up the normal gut flora. It could be that they would be better off if you gave yogurt every other day or so, rather than just once.

There are no hard and fast rules, we are just giving opinions, and they aren't going to be all the same. Just as I would not use olive oil unless I had nothing else. I would use Vaseline, A&D, or even Crisco, because they are solid and hopefully stay on the chick longer. Doesn't make olive oil wrong, just another viewpoint.

I hadn't thought of getting the feed into smaller pieces. Might help. Certainly can't hurt.

I would not give any grit while feeding only yogurt and chick feed and egg. They do not need grit for any of that.

I was hoping by incororating the eggs each morning that would help stop it? well hope the ACV works its too stuck on to use Q tips so I soak them in a pie plate a minute get a small pinch of Dawn dish soap on my finger rub it in and rinse I tryed the hair dryer this morning but it must blow too hard even on low, and it seemed to scare them so tonight I just towel dried and put them under the light to warm and clean the weatness themselves. I am on my third batch of chicks this year. I give them tap water and starter crumbles for the first couple of weeks. No treats of any kind. I have not had one with pasty butt. I know people think they are doing their birds a favor by giving them yogurt and stuff from day one, but it really doesn't do the chicks any good at all until their little systems are ready to take on more grownup types of food.
Would you give a cheeseburger to a newborn human???
