...for her bedding..its just pine shavings..from walmart pet department..but it is hard..(her crop)..not like my others....thats why i am worried...wendy

Maybe she was just really hungry and ate too much,,,,she could have been bullied out of the food supply where she came from,,,,,,I wouldnt worry,,,,,,,Are they used to bedding? Sometimes they eat bedding and they are not supposed to,,,,mine did that but they learned not too,,I just made sure they always had food available,,,,they will be fine,,,I was feeling some of my chicks crops tonight and some feel almost empty while others feel super distended and tight,,,they will be fine,,,,check on her in the morning

ok..thanks...i hate not knowing what do or what to look for...i've had many birds..but never chickens....so....i'll just wait till morning...what do i do if it hasnt gone down any..or softned up?..the same as for domestic birds?....massage it?..warm water flush to try to break it up...or are chicken crops differant?..wendy

I'm sure she's fine. I have a little three week old whose crop feels like it's full of b.b.s by end of day and it sticks out so far and is hard. Little bugger pigs out all day.

Have a hen I've name "Pammy" short for Pamela Lee Andersen because when she comes home from free ranging at end of day her crop is hanging between her legs and swaying from side to side as she runs - just needs the Bay Watch music playing. Other hens all look like they have half a baseball stuck to front of chest - up high and hard - but not Pammy.

LOL...

..thats what it looks like.....thats what her name will be if shes gonna be ok!...thanks!..wendy

I swear it looks like Pammy has a water balloon hanging betwen her legs swaying from side to side. I don't normally name my chickens but in her case it just seemed to fit.

Point is as long as they are healthy, eating, drinking, pooping - I don't worry about or check their crops - kind of like boobies - all different.

lol..ok...thanks...if thats the case..this girls got it going on!!

...thanks again...Wendy

Glad to hear it. Your young Pammy may be an early developer and just have an extra large boobie. Let's just hope the other girls don't make fun of her.
