Healthy 4 month old buff brahma pullet showed up looking like this today. She seems to be blind in the eye, but there's no swelling (rather more sunken in than other eye), so I'm not sure it's an injury. Other eye is normal. Currently treating with terramycin I had on hand. Any idea what could be going on so I have a better idea of how to treat?

Never had chicken like this, but have had cat with eye looked just like that...maybe a bit worse. It was an eye infection and ulceration on him. Keep treating with eye ointment and make sure nothing is in there that is scratching the eye. His did heal up but was left with vision loss in that eye due to an abrasion that caused scar tissue to form.

I've got a hen with something similar. She put her head through a space in the fencing and got spooked by something. That white that you are seeing is the inner eyelid/membrane. Given time to heal, she should be just fine. May have some loss of vision, but nothing that she won't be able to adjust to.

Thank you for the replies. It makes me feel better knowing it's likely not caused by a disease. Hopefully it won't cause any issues for her
