Merle shepherds. They get along with chickens nice to kids. Have really pretty Merel coloring almost like a wolf. Another breed is Kuvasz dogs also gets along with chickens and kids and other small pets. Other small dogs are usually sweet.
What kind of shepherds? I was looking at shetland sheepdogs, but I think that australian shepherds are too much.

The Corgis you mention are a good fit for your situation. I'd say a Collie or a Shetland Sheepdog if you are into brushing out often. They are smart, loyal and would take well to a smaller yard. Any herding breed that doesn't need a lot of exercise would be a good fit.
Are there collies that aren't border collies?

My concern with doodles is that many reputable poodle breeders don't sell to doodle breeders, which means that they are getting puppies from puppy mills and the like. There are also just, so, many, breeders that it's difficult to find a reputable one.
I totally get that and you have excellent points and concerns! But that’s why I highly recommend those two because they’ve been around a long time and have more established breeders now. They even have their own “breed” clubs, standard, and health testing requirements now! A lot of them are exclusively breeding multigenerational dogs now. And there’s some good ones in New England.

These links might help you. I wouldn’t recommend other poodle crosses but these two are the best two and are trying to be a real breed.

Ohhh, ok lmao. I was thinking you meant Australian shepherd poodle cross, lol.
I love Australian Labradoodles!
Yeah no lol that would be a horrible idea as would a border doodle which I’ve also seen a lot 😂🤣😬 But yeah, I love Australian Labradoodles! If I was to ever get a doodle, that’d be the one I get haha and there’s several great multigenerational breeders right near me/New England area.
