HELP! Incubator quit day 26!

Went ahead and did a float test on the one; it failed. Made a small hole in the top to see in, it looks like the mambrane was really dry or leathery and wrapping the duckling close... I'm guessing that's not normal and is a sign of too much moisture loss/not enough humidity? Good news though, three of the four left are clicking away and I heard one peeping from the inside of the shell.

Sure hope I can sleep tonight!! Goodnight everyone!

Where is your humidity at right now??

Sorry about the one guy. Sounds like it got shrink wrapped (too low humidity). Glad to hear the others are alive and well, though! :)

Yeah I have learned a lesson. This is my first time incubating and I had read so much about dry incubating/hatching and the awful things that could happen with too much humidity and how it is more important to make sure there is appropriate moisture loss by monitoring the air cell that I just decided not to worry about getting a hydrometer. Now I know that's something that probably just can't be pulled off in our super dry state of Colorado. I feel bad for that little guy/gal that got shink wrapped :( hindsight is 20/20 eh?

The one that you lost actually looks gooy, you can see a yellow line right underneath where the air cell is,. The others look a tab bit shrinkage, boost up that humidity some more..

The heating lamp could be causing your issue.  Try moving it away just a little farther and add more water

I'm not positive about the exact level of humidity (no hydrometer) but I know it is significantly higher than when they were in the forced air incubator and I think the incubator environment was what caused the problem for that one guy because I am pretty certain now my humidity was low probably almost the whole time. :/ I added a couple of those little damp cloths in last night so they'd have extra moisture through the night, but when I checked on them this morning it was almost raining on them inside so then I got scared and took them out. Haha I am laughing at myself because I know I am revealing how much I don't know what I am doing and how unprepared I was even though I thought I looked into things enough ahead of time.

Oh no he was gooey? Oh I'm so confused lol! Well the four remaining are all moving, two are definitely internally pipped. Should I add just one cloth back now? After finding the inside sopping wet this morning I got afraid I would drown them.

When it gets high it will fog up, looking at those pics the way those air cells are now, they definitely need some water, try just putting one in, so it gradually increases, let see how that works for them, will give them 6 hours to see if we get any internally pipps. or check there air cells.

I know those air cells are big, huh? Okay I'll ad a cloth in now and see how that does. One of the ones that is internally pipped must have pipped between 3 & 6pm yesterday - I have 24 hours from there before needing to make a safety hole, right?

yes add one towel, that's good they were able to internally pipped, they probably were patiently waiting for that Rain to come and that's what you did, now they are probabling thinking

What is this person doing? First they let it rain then they stop then rain again. OHHH wait until I get out of here. LOL with in 24 hours they should externally peep, so keep that wet towel in there.
