I need help I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid or what but I’m duck sitting for someone and when it sits down it will start to open it mouth and breath it’s like how a brig would when dehydrated that’s the best way to describe it like the heavy breathing and even a little noise I read on here about the temperature so I took it out but it would still continue to do it so I got it some warm water and to was dunking it’s head under and would like sneeze I guess also it keeps on nibbling at me and everything it see even it’s enclosure the person brought I’m sorry if none of this makes sense but if anyone could give me a little help I would appreciate it a lot. Also it’s a baby duck have no idea what type or how old the person didn’t say but it’s still yellow and about the size of a stuffed bear you would find at the store like the generic cheep ones. Please and thank you.

How old is the duck ?
Sounds like it’s to hot and needs water deep enough to dunk it’s head
They sneeze in water when dunking to clear the nares
What kind of bedding is it on ?
Do you have a heat source on it and csn it get away from the heat if needed ?
Does it have water and feed 24/7 with water deep enough to dunk. ?

Can you add pictures of the duckling , the brooder / pen set up
Water dishes and what kind of feed is it on

It does sound too hot. Is it pretty warm where the duck is? Can it escape the heat if it is really warm/hot where it is?

And ducks will often stick their heads underwater and blow air out of it's nostrils. That's how they keep their nostrils clean, but it does look like sneezing.

Ducks nibble everything. It's their way of touching things. Totally normal.

I agree that pics of what it's being kept in will help us tell you what might be going on.

I was never told how old and the bedding is was it came in when it was dropped off to me I have no idea how to describe it it’s kinda like a news paper or straw hay type like and it has a heating source with a control temperature and has two different water sources a 24/7 water on and feeder also a shallow dish that goes almost up to its belly the person ordered a new on cause it out grew this one.

I dose have a way out part of it is covered by a lamp/heating pad and it also has like a fenced in out area

What the heat at ?
If the duckling is panting it’s to hot
Lower the heat source
Can you give a dish deep enough for it to dunk it’s head ?

What is the heat source? And if it has a temp control, what is it set to?

It was per-set to be in between 83-95f and it’s a red lap with some type of heating pad the person attached to at the bottom it’s not to big and it’s black but has no other labels or names
