Got my order of 17 chicks yesterday and knew that one baby wasn't going to make it thru the night, and he didn't. BUT the rest of them seemed just fine and eating and drinking.

This morning there are two more that seem lethargic and not eating or drinking, just huddled up together. Temp is about 90-92 in the brooder, plenty of food and water available...

What can I do about not losing MORE!! One is enough!

I think the temp needs to be higher, at least 95

I watch them,
if they are panting ,,,too hot
move light up a little
if cuddled together under light,, too cold
move light closer to them

They respond in a short time

The rest of them seem ok, they are running around and even moving out of the hot area for periods of time. It's just these three that I've had troubles with so far. Sometimes the temp gets a bit hotter too.

Do you use Quick-Chick? or other vitamins, polyvisol?, and whenever they are acting "funny" I put some sugar in the H20, xtra pep. Have a good holiday neighbor!

It said on the instructions no vitamins for three days... I will give them some and see what happens. ALL of them I will give some!

Thank you and back atcha! Hoping for a BUSY holiday here at the store!
