Hello all- new to back yard chicken raising. Bought 4 pullets a couple months ago. They are now about 13-14 weeks old. I lost my RIR Friday - got sick and died all in one day. The other three seem to be perfectly healthy. Should I get another chick to replace Roxy or just leave the three of them? I appreciate your wisdom and advice.

I’m so sorry for your loss! It’s heart breaking to see one of your babies passed away 😢. I also agree completely with @DobieLover. Leave them be until next spring and watch the other girl’s well being. Sadly it’s hard to ever find the cause, just like what @TwoCrows said—she could of had what it was all along and it finally resurrected itself. Birds are notorious of hiding their sickness until it’s almost too late (I have personal experience from chickens to my beautiful Lovebird 😥).
On another, more cheerful note—definitely don’t give up! You’re amongst people who care and will support you! Welcome to BYC! Now go give your girls some treats and loving! 🥰
