I had a chicken just die. I suspect my flock has mareks. I was planning to send off one of my other chickens for a necropsy on Monday (soonest I could get it in) but now that this one has died, I would rather save my other bird for now and just use this one for the necropsy. Is there any way I can preserve the body for a necropsy in two days?!

I can only pass on what I've been told. Double zip lock bag it and keep refrigerated. Don't freeze. Sorry for your loss and good luck.

Dip the carcass in cold water to chill faster, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate. It will keep for a few days, although getting it to the path lab soonest is best. Consider also taking another bird, if you have one who's ill. So sorry! Mary
