Okay, now it is my turn to ask the experts. What is it?

They have LOTS of breeds. Maybe not the best examples of them, but they breed for quantity. They do come sexed- and they are pretty accurate. It's a good route for people that just want girls and don't plan on showing.

That little peanut looks like a New Hampshire or Rhode Island Red. Sometimes they will use roosters- so keep an eye on that one.

Packing peanuts are usually roos, all of my Ideal peanuts have been!

RIR for the breed, I would guess?

ETA: Did they write the breed on your packing slip? Every time I have ordered and recieved peanuts they've marked "RIR" or whatever on my slip!

It kinda looks roo-ish from the pic...will be interesting to see if it turns out to be one.

Can someone explain to me what the purpose of "packing peanuts" is? It it just for smaller orders to add more warmth to the box for shipping?

That's it exactly-although I have had them add a couple of them to a full order(not always roosters either).

I can't really tell what your packing peanut is yet-many look alike at such an early age.
