I am having a hard time to identify the color on my 6 weeks old DNA Sexed pullet who came from a Silkie Bantam breeder’s BBSWP [Black, Blue, Splash, White, Paint] in the same pen.

I am including her day one old photo and 6 weeks old photo. I’ve had some people tell me that she may be a Splash or Blue. She became more darker when older than lighter as a younger chick.

Your thoughts? Thank you for your help! <3

That's really weird, are you sure it's the same chick? I know sometimes black chicks hatch with diluted down color but I've never seen it so light.

I am 100% positive that it is the same chick because I have been raising all of them so I definitely can tell the difference. She looks a lot alike my Wednesday who is a Splash. Light Blue almost as if it is a Self Blue aka Lavender but it’s just a light splash as it becomes 2 weeks older the first black spots…that chick in the photo looks like a lavender or blue then grew darker as older. she was a very light blue with yellow and black tones as a chick then I see black tone with white/gray inside. I’m wondering if it is a spilt of blue and black?

Perhaps, Black Spilt Blue?
No, blue is incomplete dominant. Blue is one copy of the blue gene, splash is two. There are no carriers.

Sounds like it is probably a weird very dark blue. No explanation why it's like that.

Is it possible that all Blue tends to be like that? They do color change? The best solution I can think of is a Dark Blue atm. :)

I have spoken with the experts and they are telling me that it is completely normal for the Blue varieties including light to dark colors. They had lighter chicks who turned out to be darker silkies and darker to lighter as well.

I do have Draculaura’s sister, Isabella who I kept is Blue (lighter than Draculaura) along with another sister, Wednesday (Light Splash).
