I found this woman on www.kiva.org. She lives in Peru and is looking to borrow $350 to buy more chicks and feed which she then sells. Her chickens look to be in pretty good shape compared to what they are selling in our supermarkets!

I just wanted to show an example of how I believe helping someone through a loan so they can build and grow to feed themselves is my belief of charity to people around the world. The fact that $350 dollars can directly impact one family so much says alot about how wealthy we americans really are!

I can kind of understand the cultural difference part, but shouldn't you, at some point, regardless of culture, take the responsibility that any child you bring into this world, you are also condemning to premature death? For instance, if you are infected with AIDS and knowingly have unprotected relations, any child you might have would most probably start out their lives with this illness. I just can't imagine knowingly chancing having children, if I couldn't care for them or if I was going to pass some horrific disease to them.

Unfortunately, they've been exposed to so much misinformation regarding AIDS that there are plenty who don't believe it can be spread via childbirth. There are even people here in the US who believe that. Sad, isn't it?
