Medicated feed will not get rid of Cocci. As far from what I saw the bigger chicks were quite nice around her and then the two just ignored her and they went somewhere else to find bugs. If it is Cocci should I start giving medicated feed or should I do something else.
By any chance do you think that she may have vitamin deficiency and that is what is causing her leg to go out/stiffMedicated feed will not get rid of Cocci.
I doubt her leg "issue" is a sign of Cocci.
I'm just saying new chicks, especially being around older establish chickens, are prone to a Cocci overload, so keep an eye out for sign of it.
If she's eating and drinkin good..thats awesome. I bet she probly caught her leg/foot on sumthin and has a mild sprain. Hopefully She will b good as new soon...chicks r pretty resilient. As long as she's eating/drinking really goid and looks bright eyed/normal..i wouldn't worry much. Perhaps u should inspect her cage really good and look for probable causes of how she could have injured herself. Chicks do wacky stuff sometimes. She may have really wanted to get out of her cage to join the others after that exciting day out and caught her leg. I would only get really worried if she goes off her feed and becomes lethargic and inactive. by the way ...such a beautiful Chick! What breed is it?
What breed is she? Yes..basically chicks eat, poop and sleep! As they get older they will spend more time foraging and playing...right now i have chicks from 1wk to 16 wks. My 1wk babies just eat a bit then sleep a bit. They all have access to feed 24/7. My 3wk babies have periods of activity. Eat..scratch around, play a bit then sleep. 4wk chicks spend a good portiin of the day active with short naps..my 16wk birds(free range)pretty much forage all day..but do take a long nap during the heat of the day only to resume foraging until bed timeWell right now she is sleeping a lot but I heard that is normal as they grow a lot in such a small time frame but when she does wake up and is presented with food she won't hesitate to eat.
